Fulfill requirements for the Pilates Method Alliance ®NCPT exam

Are you ready to teach Pilates?

Our teacher​ ​training​ ​course​ ​requires​ ​lecture,​ ​practice,​ ​observation​ ​and​ ​student teaching hours.​ ​​ ​It​ ​is​ ​taught​ ​in​ ​8​ ​modules.​ ​​ ​The​ ​modules​ ​are​ ​designed​ ​to​ ​integrate​ ​the Pilates​ ​principles​ ​into​ ​a​ ​comprehensive​ ​program,​ ​teaching​ ​the​ ​required​ ​anatomy, fundamentals,​ ​contraindications,​ ​exercises,​ ​modifications,​ ​cueing​ ​and​ ​session​ ​design. The​ ​course ​requires​ ​450​ ​hours​ ​of​ ​study​ ​time.​ ​​ ​The​ ​lectures/workshops​ ​comprise​ ​112 hours; ​ ​the​ ​other​ ​338​ ​hours​ ​are ​​divided​ ​into​ ​teaching​ ​practice,​ ​observation​ ​and​ ​self practice.​ ​​ ​The​ ​completion​ ​of​ ​a​ ​practical​ ​teaching​ ​exam​ ​is​ ​required.

Our program offers an assessment-based​ ​certificate​ ​of​ ​completion​ ​based​ on the ​requirements​ ​of​ ​the​ ​PSAP.​ Upon successful completion students will receive the required documentation allowing them to take Pilates Method Alliance ®CPT exam. Completion of the comprehensive Pilates program does not guarantee employment or certification.

The​ ​Pilates​ ​method​ ​is​ ​a whole​ body ​system​ incorporating the physiological​ ​and ​​psychological aspects of movement. ​The different​ ​apparatus​ ​are​ ​tools​ ​to​ ​facilitate​ movement​ ​and​ ​improve effective understanding. ​We​ ​educate individuals​ ​to​ ​become​ ​teachers,​ ​not​ ​merely​ ​follow​ ​a​ ​scripted​ ​workout.​ ​​ ​By​ ​having​ ​a comprehensive​ ​Pilates​ ​education,​ ​we​ ​protect​ ​the​ ​standard​ ​and​ ​quality​ ​of​ ​the​ ​work. Our program is designed to create knowledgeable, creative, attentive, and successful teachers. Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide teacher trainees with a comprehensive understanding of the Pilates Method. We emphasize current scientific understanding of functional movement and strive to advance and integrate scientific research to provide education and practical application to the Pilates Method. We will provide a quality, fully equipped studio environment with an emphasis on learning and continued education, to prepare our graduates for the highest standards of professional competence in the practice of Pilates and support them in planning and achieving professional careers.

Goals:

  • To integrate the intricate details of the Pilates method into each student’s body, enabling them to lead a class with ease and confidence.
  • Impart a knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology as they relate to Pilates.
  • Help students embody the key principles of Alignment, Breath, Centering, Concentration, Control, Flow and Precision.
  • To provide an inviting and friendly learning environment by encouraging the sharing of knowledge and focusing on continuing education.

  • Pilates Anatomy by Rael Isacowitz
  • Trail Guide to Movement by Andrew Biel
  • Pilates Connection Teacher Training Manual supplied at time of enrollment.

All​ ​module​ ​class​ ​times​ ​are​ ​9:00-6:00 ​including​ a 45 ​minute​ ​lunch​ ​break.​  ​All​ ​participants​ ​are expected​ ​to​ ​have​ ​completed​ ​the​ ​required​ ​reading​ ​prior​ ​to​ ​class.

All​ ​modules​ ​will​ ​weave​ ​anatomy,​ ​principles,​ ​assessment,​ ​contraindications,​ ​cueing,​ ​and exercise​ ​progression​ ​into​ ​learning​ ​the​ ​exercises.​ ​​ ​Equipment​ ​safety​ ​and​ ​terminology​ ​will​ ​be taught​ ​as​ ​the​ ​participants​ ​use​ ​the​ ​equipment.

Fees​ ​must​ ​be​ ​paid​ ​at​ ​time​ ​of​ ​enrollment.​ ​​ ​Limit​ ​class​ ​to​ ​10​ ​people.
